Relay for Life of Grant County is asking teams to register for its annual event, held from 6:00 PM on July 16th until noon on July 17th at the Silver High School football field.
In a unified effort to fight cancer, former and current cancer patients, and their families, along with business, civic organizations and the public are invited to take part in the event, according to a news release.
Known as a "celebration of life", Relay for Life is a family orientated event, in which participants contribute to a team and raise funds to support the endeavors of the American Cancer Society.
"Relay for Life brings the progress against cancer to the forefront" event chair Donna Lewis said. "Many participants are our family, friends and neighbors who have dealt with cancer themselves. Their involvement is proof of the progress that has been not only reducing death rates, but also in the quality of life following cancer treatment".
Teams from companies, churches, business, organizations, hospitals and schools collect donations and work on numerous fundraising activities.
During the event participants camp at the relay site. When they are not walking participants take part in activities and local entertainment.
The funds raised enable us to continue our investment in the fight against cancer through research, education, advocacy and patient services.
